I don't know. I'm sorry, I really don't. I know he wants to be compassionate regardless of who his patient is, and Jack was in bad shape when we ran across him, so I'm not sure if he thinks this is doing what is right, or if he is trying to prove something after all those people became so angry with him yesterday.

I'm so sorry, I tried to stop him, I tried.

[He's trying to treat him. That's...something of a different story. Not different enough, however.]

If he's treating his wounds, hopefully that will be incentive enough for Jack to leave Clayton be when he's finished. I'm once more on the other side of town, but I will try to reach you again when I am able.

You have nothing to apologize for. Clayton has a good heart, even if he makes misguided decisions. Far be it from anyone to tell a healer not to treat a wounded man.

I hope you're right. I had similar reasoning a little while ago when I ran across Jack originally, and I don't enjoy seeing the man wandering around with treatable injuries, either. It's cruel to just ignore that.

But it still does not change that Jack will not hesitate to harm him. He does not care, not as Clayton does. If it were a matter of simply making sure he was taken care of, of his health, we could do so with supervision - to ensure they would both stay safe.

Clayton cannot treat anyone if he is dead.

I know. I don't mean to say this isn't dangerous, and that he should have left on his own, but I understand his thinking. He knows Jack is dangerous, but Jack is also wounded. He wants to treat him, but does not want to put anyone in danger, and that means not taking you or anyone else with him.

At least the thought he might simply let him go is something to hope for. For now, hope is all we can give, while we try to find a means to help him.

I'm sorry if I sound scattered in my thinking. I do understand what Clayton wants. I really do. I'm relieved you do, as well. But I'm still so worried for him.
