PERMISSIONS FOR YOU: games with powers only

So when I wrote up Enoch's powers section and thought maybe he could cleanse a Puella Magi's soul gem, I never thought it would actually happen!

Because the nature of his purification actually puts things like soul gems in a gray area, and because this is obviously going to be something some people don't want to "cheat" at, here are some permissions regarding Enoch's purification ability.

Does your character's canon have some sort of curse/taint/evilness/darkness comparable to vileness described in the linked thread? Please describe it. (Puella Magi need not describe it since they started it and I'm already aware. I'll try to keep this updated with exceptions as I learn the case in more canons.)

If we come to the conclusion that purification may work, is it all right if it does? (A case-by-case basis preference is fine, too.)

I was tempted to say Minato would have some darkness in him. He does. He inherently has half of freakin' DEATH in his head, and he's killed a LOT of people. But Enoch would fail to purify that because it's basically linked with his psyche until such a time as the other half is reunited with it and it becomes something with a 'human' form, basically. As of now it's chilling as a murderous version of his Persona, Thanatos.

So, yeah, I don't think it'd work. :( The others are either already pretty pure people (Link is as pure as a heroine can get!) and Legion is pure by virtue of being a machine who does not necessarily do evil?

However if you'd like Enoch to be able to SENSE this, I am all for it.

Hm... I'm not sure death itself would be similar to vileness. Death is just part of the natural order of things, but it is being used strangely here.

I consulted with someone else who has a foot in both fandoms, and we came to the conclusion that Thanatos probably doesn't count as vileness - since Shadows are technically the traits that vileness would tend to latch on to (to the point where I could determine Enoch's Shadow by watching how vileness affects him), then a Persona probably shouldn't count as the same - if a Shadow is vile, then a Persona is purified.

This is by no means a final answer if you still want to give evidence for it!

Nah I'm totally fine with this. I don't know Enoch's canon (I'm a little blind there) so I wasn't sure what'd count, really? I think we're good then, there. Disregard me, then. o/ Thank you for answering.

Always better to ask than to not be sure! I used the thread as an example, but I realize it doesn't cover every aspect of vileness and what it is. All the more reason to have an invitation to talk it out!

Different canons fit together (or fail to do so) differently, after all!
